Ruth used this morning’s meeting of Holyrood’s Social Security Committee to ask Cabinet Secretary for Communities, Social Security and Equalities, Angela Constance, about direct community and individual involvement in the consultation and delivery process of the new powers over benefits and welfare being devolved to Holyrood.
The Cabinet Secretary assured Ruth that the government is very much committed to engaging with individuals and communities, during both the consultation and delivery stages, and that a series of engagement events is already being planned. She also encouraged members to start thinking about how they might engage with local communities, organisations and individuals in their own constituencies - look out here for information on events in Cunninghame South Constituency!
